1,200 BPH Fully Automatic 5L Water Bottling Line in Africa
HZM completed and delivered a fully automatic 5L pure-water bottling line for a customer in Africa. The turnkey project was designed for 1,200 bottles per hour and covered the engineering cycle from layout and manufacturing through factory testing, logistics, installation, commissioning and operator training.
Large 5L PET bottles create different handling and filling requirements from common 500 ml packages. This project shows how the primary filling equipment and downstream automation were configured as one line.
Turnkey 5L Project Scope
The line integrates automatic bottle feeding and rinsing, volumetric filling, capping, labeling, date coding, packaging and palletizing. Connecting these modules reduces manual transfer and creates a traceable flow from empty bottle to finished pallet.
The scope also included layout optimization and technical support during implementation, which are critical when a customer is preparing a new factory or product launch.
Why 5L Bottles Need Dedicated Handling
A filled 5L bottle is heavier and has greater inertia than a small bottle. Conveyor support, guide geometry, transfers and accumulation must prevent tipping, scuffing or container compression.
Filling valves and timing should be tested with the actual bottle and cap. The larger volume also increases product-flow demand and makes overfill more expensive.
1,200 BPH Production Design
The documented output is 1,200 5L bottles per hour. Water treatment, product-water storage and the filler supply circuit must support that demand plus rinsing, cleaning and peak operating conditions.
The accepted result should be saleable, correctly closed bottles that pass labeling, coding and final packing—not only filled containers leaving the monoblock.
Hygiene and Filling Control
The line uses hygienic product-contact construction and a more enclosed filling environment. Effective hygiene still depends on validated cleaning, protected treated-water storage, bottle condition and operator practices.
Volumetric filling supports controlled product quantity, but calibration and position-level checks remain part of routine quality control.

Installation, Training and Startup
HZM engineers worked with the customer on layout, installation, commissioning and hands-on support. Training should cover startup, shutdown, sanitation, changeover, common alarms, preventive maintenance and safe isolation.
According to the project record, coordinated implementation enabled the factory to start production and launch the new water brand on schedule.
Automation Beyond the Filler
Automatic labeling, coding, packing and palletizing reduce repeated manual handling of heavy 5L bottles. The downstream equipment must match the commercial label, pack count, pallet and distribution requirements.
Line controls should coordinate accumulation and stops so a packer event does not create unstable bottles at the filler discharge.
What This Project Demonstrates
This African project demonstrates HZM's ability to engineer a complete 5L line at 1,200 BPH and support the customer through startup. It combines large-bottle handling, filling accuracy, downstream automation and project service in one documented case.
